Anatolia Thermal Quarter
A contemporary bathing quarter built on a working geothermal field, where an old civic ritual is given a new plan.
Afyonkarahisar has bathed in this water for centuries. The brief was not to invent a wellness concept but to give an existing one a building worth the ritual.
The quarter is organised as five masonry volumes around a shared court, each holding a single thermal condition. Guests move between them in the open air, which does the work that a corridor would otherwise do badly.
Dwell carried the project from strategy through delivery, including procurement of the stone, sanitaryware and thermal equipment, and full-time site supervision through a 19-month construction period.

Entry through the narrowest gap in the masonry wall.

Rest hall placed furthest from the public street.

Each point records a wellness decision fixed at masterplan stage.
A single oculus lights the hot room; there are no other openings.

Indirect only, so the body keeps no sense of the hour.

Rest hall visible from the circuit but acoustically separate.
